our mission is to teach more than just music.

Confidence

At Epic, we believe that confidence is one of the most important skills a child can develop — both in music and in life. Confidence empowers tamariki to step outside their comfort zone, try new things, and believe in their ability to succeed. Through music, we create a safe and supportive environment where students can build that self-belief step by step. Whether it’s mastering a new chord, performing in front of their classmates, or taking the stage at one of our Epic concerts, every achievement helps strengthen their sense of confidence. Our tutors encourage students to celebrate their progress, embrace mistakes as part of learning, and trust in their abilities. Over time, this confidence goes far beyond music, equipping them with the courage to tackle challenges in all areas of life.

Responsibility

Responsibility is a core life skill that we help nurture in every Epic student. Learning music teaches tamariki the importance of commitment — from remembering to bring their instrument and practising regularly to showing up prepared for lessons and performances. We help students understand that their progress is in their hands and that consistency and accountability are key to growth. By setting small goals, managing their practice time, and taking ownership of their musical journey, students develop habits that set them up for success both inside and outside the classroom. These lessons in responsibility become lifelong skills, preparing them to take initiative, follow through, and achieve their goals.

Creativity

Creativity is at the heart of everything we do at Epic. Music is one of the most powerful ways for tamariki to express themselves, explore new ideas, and think outside the box — and we make sure those skills are nurtured in every lesson. From writing their own songs and experimenting with sounds to improvising during band sessions, students are encouraged to explore and create without fear of getting it “wrong.” Our tutors guide them to use music as a tool for storytelling, problem-solving, and self-expression, helping them discover their unique voice and style. These creative skills don’t just stay in the music room — they inspire confidence, innovation, and imagination in every part of life.

Resilience

Resilience is a vital skill for every young musician — and one that we focus on building throughout our lessons at Epic. Learning an instrument takes time, patience, and persistence, and we teach our students that mistakes and challenges are not setbacks but stepping stones to success. Whether it’s working through a tricky song, bouncing back after a performance, or simply showing up each week ready to improve, students learn the value of perseverance. Our tutors encourage them to keep trying, problem-solve, and celebrate progress along the way. Over time, this builds a growth mindset that extends far beyond music, giving them the confidence to face challenges in all areas of life.
